Alladale Wilderness Lodge & Reserve (www.alladale.com) is an idyllic retreat with a difference, a process has begun to return this part of the Scottish Highlands to its original state. Centuries ago the Caledonian Forest covered the region as the largest forest in Europe. Since that time the native trees have been logged almost entirely and the over populated red deer haven't allowed any new trees to develop.
